EDN110
Technology is frequently used in the unit 'Mathematics for Teaching'. Personally, in my tute we have used the interactive whiteboard several times to play educational games as a whole class. One of the assignements for this unit was called 'using technology'. Our task was to do a demonstration of the extent to which technology can be used in the teaching and learning of mathematics (Jacob, Kissane & Ho, 2012). 10% of this assignment was associated with the using HOTmaths. HOTmaths is an online site that helps to develop mathematical skills by using widgets, games and quizzes. Consequently, this is linking back to EDN113 as I am constantly using technology and how to use it in classroom settings.
FDN107
My foundation unit called 'Next Life' is all about how technology is changing and what it does in terms of our life. Both essays that I have had to complete in that unit have both been about facebook. On face value the essay questions seemed extremely easy because personally I use facebook a lot. However, getting evidence and references to back up your arguement was hard because I assumed that I just knew everything on facebook, but there is a lot more in the online world that I didn't know about. Hence, this unit is making us aware of that and introducing us into the 'next life' of technology. This relates back to EDN113 as I am becoming aware of future technologies through FDN107 and can use this knowledge to use technology for teaching.
